A graduate of Manchester University he is an active Member of the Institution of Economic Development , having served both as a Director on the National Council and Chairman of the North West branch for three years.

Has in the past acted as the interim Chief Executive Officer for a Co-operative Development Agency where he re-branded, grew the organisation and initiated a range of high-impact projects, including on- procurement and social accounting.

Managed the largest single programme linked to Social Enterprise development in the West Midlands (£9.5M)

Previously Head of Business Development Business Link for Cambridgeshire. Prior to the move to Bedford I was Head of Economic Initiatives at Lancashire Enterprises, which later became Enterprise plc where I was involved in both National and International assignments.

Previous experience has included urban and rural regeneration; economic sector restructuring; inward investment; Social Inclusion ; SME support and development. Formally a member of the senior management team responsible for the economic development function for a major local authority in North West England (140,000 inhabitants) for ten years and where he established and oversaw the first European Information Point in the County.

Extensive knowledge of European Funding and various other intervention instruments and has acted both as an assessor and evaluator of programmes for the Government Office for the Region.
